BURLINGTON, N.C. — A deputy with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office has been charged after he rear-ended another vehicle.

Deputy Stephen Jenkins was charged with failure to reduce speed after he struck a vehicle directly in his path while driving west on U.S. 70 around 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Trooper P. Thornton told the Burlington Times-News.

The vehicle that was struck was trying to turn left onto Gibson Road outside Mebane, Thornton said.

Nobody was injured, but both vehicles sustained moderate damage.
