HIGH POINT, N.C. — The Triad’s only 26.2-mile road race has been canceled for 2012.

The Greensboro News & Record reported that the North Carolina Marathon could be rescheduled for next spring. The event was planned to take place Nov. 17 in High Point.

Officials said Charlotte’s Thunder Road Marathon was moved to the same date, causing the cancellation.

The event is owned by and raises money for Foster Friends of North Carolina. United Healthcare’s four-year sponsorship of the event also ended in 2011, the paper reported
