STOKES COUNTY, N.C. — A Madison man has been arrested after deputies said they seized about five kilos of cocaine.

In a news release, Stokes County deputies said Ines Ovidio Marinero, 29, was arrested shortly after 9 p.m. Monday after about five kilos of cocaine were seized as part of a joint investigation with the DEA.

“Depending on the purity of this particular cocaine seizure, it’s street value could easily be valued at more than $500,000,” Chief Deputy Craig Carico said in the release. “Although we will not know the extent of its true value until all of the lab results are in.”

Deputies said multiple firearms were also seized during the investigation.  No other details specific to the investigation were provided.

Marinero has been charged with one count of trafficking cocaine and maintaining a drug dwelling.  He was in the Stokes County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond as of Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect has a court date set for April 18.
