Donald Mitchell Poteat (Burlington Police)

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Authorities are searching for a man who allegedly grabbed a woman’s buttocks several times at the Walmart on Graham Hopedale Road in Burlington.

The alleged incident happened in October 2011. Police identified Donald Mitchell Poteat, 47, of 2156 Carter Rd., Burlington, as a suspect in the case.

On Friday, Burlington Police issued a press release about the 2011 incident because they believe the suspect may have recently committed the same crime again.

The second incident was never confirmed by police because the alleged victim left the store before officers arrived, police said. Officer Chris Verdeck said there is no surveillance video of the second incident.

No other information was provided.

If convicted, Poteat faces charges of sexual battery connected with the 2011 incident.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts or the alleged incidents should call Crimestoppers at 229-7100.
