COLUMBUS, GA — An 87-year-old man was recently honored for his 500th blood donation with the Red Cross.

Vance Waggener has given 500 units of blood and platelets to the Red Cross since he first started donating at the age of 25, according to WTVM.

The Red Cross honored Waggener for his accomplishment at the beginning of March, which is also Red Cross Month.

“It’s a real great feeling that you can do something for somebody else and all it costs you is a little time,” Waggener told WTVM.
