GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Roughly 50 members of a task force agree Greensboro needs a new performing arts center. However, they're still looking at whether downtown is still the best place for it.

Ross Harris, who is on the task force, said the group has brought on a consultant to try to figure out the best location.

"The most important thing you want to do is make sure you develop a facility that fits the community. Is it where the community is and where the community wants to go to? These are buildings that are going to be here for 50 or 100 years," Harris said.

The task force will give city council its preliminary report on May 15. That report will include a spot downtown that the task force believes is the best location.
