Police: Man hit, killed by car during argument

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem man is dead after police said he was struck by a vehicle during a dispute Monday night.

In a news release, police said Ricky Lee Young, 48, of King, was involved in an dispute with the victim, 51-year-old James Aaron Priddy, in the 500 block of Mentor Street around 10:30 p.m.  During the argument, police said Young struck Priddy with a 1998 Saturn sedan.

Priddy, of 1304 Kenwood St., died as a result of being hit, police said.

Young faces charges of felony hit-and-run, driving while intoxicated.  More charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

The suspect was in jail Tuesday under a $300,000 bond.

No other information was released.

Priddy’s death marks the fourth traffic-related death of 2012 in Winston-Salem.
