A former employee of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center pleaded guilty to sexual battery charges Monday involving two children who came to the hospital’s imaging facility for diagnostic procedures.

William Keith Roberts, 57, of Pilot Mountain, pleaded guilty in Forsyth Superior Court to three counts of misdemeanor sexual battery in incidents in 2007 and 2010. He also pleaded guilty to an unrelated fourth count of misdemeanor sexual battery of a 7-year-old boy in 2011 in a parking lot off Peters Creek Parkway.

Roberts, who worked as a registered nurse at Baptist, was initially charged with felony taking indecent liberties with children.

Assistant District Attorney Pansy Glanton said the case was going to be difficult to prosecute because one victim was mentally and physically unable to testify. The family of the other victims didn’t want their children, who are still very young, to have to testify in court, she said.
