HIGH POINT, N.C. -- A group of parents are expressing concerns about the number of fights at Ferndale Middle School.

The school district has reported 23 fights at the middle school so far in the 2011-2012 school year alone.  Parents are also concerned about the 178 disciplinary problems that have been reported.

The group of parents said they asked to meet with school administration to address the issues after hearing about several fights within the past two weeks.

“Because of the lack of communication from the administration we're left to listen to 11, 12, and 13-year-olds to get our information and then it just becomes speculation and speculation becomes rumor,” parent Gina Wood said.

The meeting, which the principal and superintendent are both expected to attend, will be held at the school at 6 p.m. Monday.
