HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. — Authorities have arrested a Saluda man in the slaying of a man whose death was originally reported as a suicide.

Henderson County deputies on Saturday charged 23-year-old Brandon Cody Lee Case with murder.

On Wednesday, authorities got a 911 call about a man reported to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head. The shooting happened at Case’s home. A woman who called 911 said Lindsay was upset because he hadn’t been able to see his child.

But Capt. Jerry Rice says evidence and witness statements made investigators doubt that 23-year-old Joshua William Lindsay had shot himself. And an autopsy showed Lindsay had not shot himself. It wasn’t clear if Case had an attorney. He was being held without bond and was scheduled to appear in court Monday.
