13-year-old arrested for armed robbery in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A 13-year-old boy was arrested for robbing a convenience store at gunpoint Friday afternoon in Winston-Salem.

Police said the juvenile entered Kristy’s Food Mart at 2609 N. Liberty St. around 4:30 p.m. with a handgun demanding money.

Officials said a second suspect stood outside acting as a lookout. The two fled the area on foot after receiving an undisclosed amount of money, authorities said.

Officers arrested the boy at his home in the Piedmont Park area shortly later. He was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and taken to a juvenile detention center.

The second suspect is still wanted. He is described as a black male, 14-16 years old and 5’6”-5’9.” He reportedly wore a black hooded sweatshirt.

The name and mug shot of the arrested suspect will not be released because of age. Authorities said the gun he used has not been recovered.
