3 injured after tractor-trailer leaves overpass in Surry Co.

SURRY COUNTY, N.C. — Three people were injured after a tractor-trailer left an interstate overpass Friday and landed on the highway below.

The wreck happened around 4:05 p.m. at the intersection of Interstate 74 and Highway 601.

Christopher Spainhour with Surry County emergency dispatch said a tractor-trailer somehow left the I-74 overpass and landed on Highway 601.

The driver of the truck, Roman Mittailovich Dubinschi, 21, of Florida, was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. His condition was not available Friday night.

Two people in another vehicle were also taken to a hospital. Victoria Carter, 21, and David Prevette, 30, of Mt. Airy, were treated at Northern Hospital of Surry County and released.

The wreck closed both southbound lanes of I-74 until late Friday night.
