FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A former Fayetteville resident was charged with embezzlement after officials said he stole meatballs and anchovy dip from an employer almost three years ago.

The Fayetteville Observer reported that Anthony Robert McDaniel, 47, is accused of taking about $208 worth of food from the now-closed Skibo Skillet between March 25, 2009 and April 24, 2009.

The stolen items include meatballs, corn on the cob, anchovy dip and trout whiting filet.

McDaniel was charged with one count of embezzlement Wednesday after returning from Texas to voluntarily surrender, the paper reported.

He was released on $10,000 bail.
