Chelsea Sorrell made it to Las Vegas on 'American Idol' last year, but this year, she's going much further than that.

Sorrell, 23, of Stokesdale, was picked as one of Idol's Top 24 on Wednesday night. She loudly exclaimed "Oh my God!" when Steven Tyler told her the news, and she asked Jennifer Lopez for a hug. You can see her reaction in the video above.

"You're going to be in front of America now. We already know you got it," Randy Jackson advised her. "Stay consistent."

Idol showed a moment during her Hollywood auditions where she forgot some of the words to "I Told You So" by Randy Travis and Idol winner Carrie Underwood. However, Steven said Sorrell sang so well that she should get a chance to start over. The small-town girl certainly didn't disappoint the second time around.

Locally, Sorrell performs with the Chris Lane Band, which opened up for Sara Evans at the Lexington Barbecue Festival last year. The band's most recent single charted as high as No. 7 on iTunes Country.

On Feb. 8, Sorrell told FOX8 she will stick with the band no matter how far she gets on the show.

Chelsea will now get ready to perform with the other female semifinalists on Feb. 29. The male semifinalists will perform on Tuesday.

The remaining members of the Top 24 will be revealed Thursday night starting at 8 only on FOX8.
