Downed power lines closes S. Frontage St. and Clemmonsville Rd. in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A traffic accident at the intersection of S. Frontage Street and Clemmonsville Road has caused traffic signals and power lines to be knocked the ground.

According to Winston-Salem police, the accident happened around 10:30 Saturday morning and resulted in a power pole being struck.

The intersection of S. Frontage Street and Clemmonsville Road will be closed for approximately 6 to 9 hours, according to Duke Energy. 

Traffic will only be allowed to travel west on Clemmonsville Road from the intersection.  

Motorists are warned that they cannot use S. Frontage Street to travel to Thomasville Road. 

The Winston-Salem Police Department is asking for all motorists to avoid the area if at all possible.
