GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police said a woman who initially reported an attempted abduction at a Target store in Greensboro has recanted her story.

The woman initially told police she was in the parking lot of the Target on New Garden Road when a man parked his vehicle beside her around 6:30 p.m Wednesday night.

She first told police the man grabbed her leg and tried pulling her into his vehicle, but she was able to run back into the store where employees called 911.

On Thursday afternoon, police said the woman “changed her story” and now claims the man only “touched her leg” when she was getting out of her vehicle. She has recanted the part of her story where she claims he tried to pull her into a vehicle.

No other details were immediately available.
