Woman charged with killing husband in Randolph Co.

CLIMAX, N.C. — A woman has been charged with murder after her husband was found dead on Friday.

Margaret H. Cox, 66, faces charges in connection with the death of Larry Craig Cox, 67.

Cox was found dead in an outbuilding on Old Red Cross Road in Climax, Randolph County deputies said. Larry Cox died of an apparent gunshot wound, deputies said.

Investigators believe the shooting happened on Thursday evening during a verbal argument between the couple. Investigators believe Margaret Cox placed Larry Cox in the outbuilding after the shooting.

Margaret Cox was not injured during the argument, deputies said. She is being held in the Randolph County Jail without bond.

Larry Cox’s body has been taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.
