Deputies: Suspicious device at Eden power plant not bomb

EDEN, N.C. — Rockingham County deputies said a suspicious device found at the Duke Energy plant on Friday was not a bomb.

Deputies were called to the plant Dan River Steam Station around 3 p.m.

Chief Deputy Abner Bullins said workers at a construction site found a threatening note. Sheriff Sam Page said workers found a “suspicious device” upon further investigation.

Around 6:30 p.m., deputies said the device found was not a bomb. Deputies said they will continue to investigate.
