Woman Hospitalized After Shooting in Lexington

A woman was hospitalized after being shot by a stranger Wednesday morning in Lexington, police said.

Police found Michelle Denise Fuller, 39, of Lexington, with one gunshot wound to her upper torso around 1:30 a.m. near the Smith Avenue and Cotton Grove Road intersection.

Police said an unknown male in a dark car approached her, trying to get her into the vehicle. When she refused, the suspect shot her and fled the scene, police said.

The victim was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Further details were not provided.
