Two Burlington Men Killed by Amtrak Train

Around 7:00 Saturday night Burlington Police was notified that a train had struck two people who were on the tracks. 

When officers arrived at the scene in the 1900 block of N. Park Avenue, they found that a southbound Amtrak train on the way to Charlotte had struck the two pedestrians near the S. Glen Raven Rd. railroad crossing. 

The two people struck were identified as Lawrence Chadwick Hyde, 23, and Christopher Thomas Isley, 24, both of 1119 N. Park Ave. Burlington.

Both men were pronounced dead on the scene.

The railroad tracks and the railroad crossing were closed during the investigation. The train was delayed for approximately three hours.

The Burlington Fire Department, Alamance County EMS, Alamance County Rescue, Amtrak Company Police and Norfolk Southern Railroad Company Police assisted in the investigation.

The investigation is on-going.
