Deputies: Woman crashed into Burlington store, stole beer

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A woman was arrested after deputies said she drove into the front of a Burlington business and stole beer Wednesday morning.

Kara Fitzgerald Overman, 41, of Burlington, allegedly crashed a dark-colored truck into the Deep Creek Convenience Store at 810 Deep Creek Church Road at about 1:42 a.m.

Deputies said she got out of the vehicle and left with what appeared to be a case of beer.

Significant damage was reported to the store’s front door.

Deputies said she was arrested after being found at 2427 Carolina Road, lot 28 with the truck.

Overman has been charged with one count each of breaking and entering, larceny and injury to property.

She was placed in the Alamance County Jail under a $5,000 bond. Further details were not provided.
