Mila Kunis keeps word, attends Marine Corps ball in NC
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WGHP)— Another marine’s special request came true Friday when Mila Kunis kept her word and attended the Marine Corps ball in Greenville, N.C. on Friday.
The 28-year-old actress arrived for the ball at the North Carolina Convention Center early in the afternoon to accompany Sgt. Scott Moore, who had recently returned from seven months of service in Afghanistan, throughout the evening.
Moore sent Kunis an invitation to the event via YouTube in July while on duty in Afghanistan. (Watch the video here.)
“Hey Mila, it’s Sgt. Moore, but you can call me Scotty,” he said while donning combat gear in the video. “I just want to take a moment out of my day to invite you to the Marine Corps Ball with yours truly. Take a second to think about it and get back to me. All right, bye now.”
The highly-publicized invitation sparked a short wave of service members inviting celebrities to attend their respective events.
Justin Timberlake, 30, who pressured his co-star to accept the invitation during an interview about their then-upcoming movie ‘Friends with Benefits,’ received his own YouTube invitation shortly after Kunis said she would attend.
The Grammy award-winning singer/actor accompanied Cpl. Kelsey De Santis to her Marine Corps ball on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, Virginia.
Aimee Lupino, a make-up artist and stylist who spoke with sister station WTVR about helping De Santis get ready for the big night, said that De Santis “was not stressed.”
Lupino told WTVR that Timberlake received a gift bag of things that De Santis put together for him, related to what she believes were things having to do with Marine Corps life.
WTVR reports that Lupino also made it clear that De Santis wasn’t the only lucky one. “Kelsey is just a beautiful person inside and out and Justin Timberlake was lucky to be her date to the Marine Corps Ball!,” she said.
Reality TV star Kristin Cavallari also attended a Marine Corps ball event Friday near Camp Pendleton in Southern California. Cavallari attended per the request of Lance Cpl. Jonathan Burkett, who invited Cavallari around the same time Kunis was invited.
