Graham man accused of biting girl’s lip off

GRAHAM, N.C. (WGHP)— A Graham man was arrested after police say he bit off his 14-year-old girlfriend’s lip Wednesday morning.

Devin Rashai Daye, 18, has been charged with assault on a female and assault inflicting serious injury.

Police responded to 409 West Market Street in Graham at about 7:43 a.m. in reference to a fight near the roadway.

Police say the victim needed medical assistance because a large portion of her lower lip was missing.

The lip was found and given to Alamance County emergency personnel. The victim and her lip were taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Daye is being held at the Alamance County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.

Detectives say more charges are expected to be filed including felony maiming. Further details were not provided.
