Executive Producer of Digital Content  – Regular Full Time

WGHP/FOX8 is looking for an experienced news web producer to set the vision and lead the news team that creates, develops and produces the station’s digital coverage on all platforms. We are looking for a newsroom leader with strong news judgment who will foster a competitive and number one digital newsroom culture.  The right person for this job should thrive on working in the 24-hour news cycle.   We are looking for someone who can help create unique web-only content.

The Executive Producer is responsible for managing, producing and creating content for myfox8.com along with our social media sites and the mobile platform.  Previous success growing website and mobile views/visits is essential, as well as experience improving performance from metrics is a must.  You will be managing, teaching and coaching a web staff.

The successful candidate must have knowledge of basic coding, HTML, CMS, Photoshop and word processing program.  Social Media/Audience Engagement experience is also required to lead our continued growth on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and other emerging social media platforms.   Candidates must have 3-5 years news experience, be versed in all applicable legal issues and have excellent writing, spelling and grammar skills.  Must be able to write news stories in AP style.  College degree required.

Are you looking to use your creativity in a way that traditional newscasts don’t allow? Would you like to create a different type of newscast?  We’re a FOX station looking for a creative executive producer who can oversee 3 hour-long newscasts that include lots of local guests, community news and interesting talk.  You’ll manage the on-air presentation of assigned newscasts, including show content, look and live remotes.  Manage and direct news personnel to create and develop compelling newscasts.  Make sound editorial decisions and write news copy.  Hire, train, manage and prepare schedules for producers and associate producers. Will fill-in line producing as needed.  Plan and create special events for newscasts.  Set up guests and segments. Your tools include the Piedmont Triad’s largest news gathering team, several live trucks, FOX NewsEdge, CNN Newsource and access to video from all of the Tribune Broadcasting properties.   Degree in Journalism, Communications or related field and a minimum of five years live news producing experience required.  Must have ability to manage and lead staff, be highly organized and have good interpersonal skills.  Requires excellent broadcast news writing and A+ spelling and grammar.  Must have the ability to implement new technologies into newscasts.

GRAPHIC ARTIST – Regular Full-Time

FOX8 WGHP is seeking a Graphic Artist.  This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to work in a top 50 television DMA.  This position requires an advanced level of competency to deal with the fast pace of daily news graphics production.  Duties include creating on-air and off-air graphics for all departments.  Applicants need to be proficient in Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.  Experience with Vizrt and Viz Curious World Mapping Software is a plus. 3D design skills really help you stand out.  Creative design, accuracy and attention to spelling and grammar are necessary, as well as constant interaction with news producers, reporters and managers.  One to two years television Graphic Artist experience preferred. Operate state of the art broadcast equipment including but not limited to automated on-air playback systems, satellite receiving equipment and server based media storage systems. Must be a highly motivated individual with heavy emphasis on digital media, FTP protocol, and file movement from in house and out of house networks.  Oversee transmitter remote, take transmitter readings, and make remote adjustments to transmitter as needed. Must communicate effectively with all station departments. Must make quick decisions and have the ability to react quickly to changing conditions. Must be able to precisely write discrepancy reports daily and maintain written documentation of daily events and errors during assigned shifts. Regularly assesses audio and video (visually and audibly) content of on-air signal for quality and conformity to on-air look. Attend and participate in department meetings, safety meetings and training. Operator may assist in training other operators in attaining new skills or training new employees on station specific equipment and operations. Effectively communicate with other departments regarding on-air and operational situations. Occasionally moves throughout the station and the department to coordinate work requirements. Good computer skills a must. High school diploma required and college degree preferred. Prefer candidates that have 1-2 years’ experience as a Master Control Operator.


FOX8 WGHP is looking for a person with a passion for writing and a nose for news. This individual will assist newscast producers with all elements of putting together a newscast including writing and researching stories. Will work with all aspects of the production of a newscast, including coordination with the production staff and graphic artists. Could be assigned overnight and weekend shifts. Will perform other duties as assigned.

This is a training position with expectations to become a newscast producer who will fill-in as needed. Must be an excellent writer, focusing on matching script to video. Must have outstanding spelling, grammar, and copy editing skills. Must be able to work flexible schedule. Broadcast and other related news experience preferred. Must have good news judgment and know current events. Requires strong communications and people skills. Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment within specific time constraints.

Requirements: College degree required. Must be proficient with PC and industry specific software.


The individual is responsible for editing video for various newscasts using Final Cut Pro editors under specific time constraints. Must record video from photographers in the field and make sure it is ready to air for the newscasts. Archive video in each newscast for file purposes, inform Producers of video status and must be able to handle multiple tasks at once, under deadline and in a close team-oriented environment. Good news judgment and knowledge of legal issues is necessary. Experience in non-linear editing and at least one year news editing experience preferred.  High school diploma required and college degree preferred. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
