    ASHEBORO, N.C. — Police say a standoff has ended after they responded to an Asheboro home Wednesday afternoon where a man barricaded himself inside.     Mark Walker has defeated Phil Berger Jr. in the GOP runoff for the 6th congressional district. Walker defeated Berger by a margin of 18,871 votes to 12,550 votes, according to unofficial final totals from the State Board of Elections.     CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Panthers’ defensive end Greg Hard was found guilty of assault on a female and communicating threats Tuesday night, according to WSOC. The judge dismissed a sentence of 60 days in jail for Hardy and instead sentenced him to 18 months of supervised probation.     Flooding reported along Wendover Avenue in Greensboro

    GREENSBORO, N.C. — Portions of Wendover Avenue are flooded after heavy rains came through Tuesday evening. Portions of Wendover Avenue near Landmark Center Drive are flooded. Flooding has also been reported along Wendover Avenue at the intersection of Big Tree Way.

    Mark Walker defeated Phil Berger Jr. in the 6th congressional district GOP runoff by a margin of 18,871 votes to 12,550 votes. Walker will face Democratic primary winner Laura Fjeld in November. Josh Brannon defeated Gardenia Henley in the 5th congressional district Democratic runoff by a margin of 2,746 votes to 1,438 votes. Brannon will face Republican incumbent Virginia Foxx in November.

    Southbound lanes of US 52 in Winston-Salem reopened after tractor-trailer overturns

    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A tractor-trailer that overturned in the southbound lanes of U.S. 52 has been cleared from the roadway and all lanes have reopened. The driver, 42-year-old Antoine Banard Perry, of Charlotte, sustained minor injuries in the accident and was transported to a local hospital. Perry was later cited for speeding and transporting an unsecured load in a trailer. NCDOT first announced the closure around 4:15 p.m.

    THOMASVILLE, N.C. – A man’s death is being investigated as a homicide after he was found with a fatal gunshot wound in Thomasville Tuesday afternoon.
