    GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro police are investigating a nightclub shooting that has left one person dead. Around 4 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a report of a shooting at Magic Gentleman’s Club located at 2216 Martin Luther King Jr Drive. There they discovered Kenon Alrease Wall, 29, dead.     MEBANE, N.C. – Mebane’s first African-American Presbyterian Church is celebrating its sesquicentennial, a historic milestone. Reverend W.A.     Downed power lines close Edgeworth Street in Greensboro

    GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Police Department has advised that all lanes of Edgeworth Street between Bellemeade Street and Smith Street are closed. The cause of the road closure is listed as downed power lines due to traffic accident. There is no word on when Edgeworth Street will be re-opened.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Internal Revenue Service issued a consumer alert Friday with tips to protect taxpayers from telephone scam artists pretending to be with the IRS. The IRS said these scammers make it look like an official call by using fake names and bogus IRS identification badge numbers.     Man found dead in his Reidsville home

    REIDSVILLE, N.C. – The death of Michael Wayne Smith is currently being investigated by the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office. Smith was found deceased inside his home by a family member around 10 p.m. on Saturday. Smith was 44 years old at the time of his death. Corporal Kevin Suthard with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office said that the cause of death was unknown at this time. The investigation is on-going.

    I-40 W. at Lewisville Clemmons Road back open after tractor-trailer crash

    CLEMMONS, N.C. – I-40 westbound from the city limits of Winston-Salem to the Lewisville Clemmons Road exit in Clemmons is back open after a trailer-tractor wreck. The Winston Salem Police Department said all traffic headed westbound on I-40 and Business 40 had to be diverted onto U. S. 421 North. Police also advised motorists to pay attention to detour signs and temporary traffic cone patterns when traveling in this area. Traffic reopened around 1 p.m. Saturday.

    Greensboro motorists urged to avoid Huffine Mill Road next week

    GREENSBORO, N.C. – Huffine Mill Road will be closed from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. for water line rehabilitation work starting Monday, July 21. The Greensboro Water Resources Department strongly encourages motorists to use the detour or an alternate route to avoid the area. The rehabilitation work is expected to be completed by Thursday, but could be delayed by inclement weather. Residents affected by the work will receive a temporary water service.

    NC agencies warn toll drivers of email scam

    RALEIGH, N.C. — The N.C. Turnpike Authority is warning motorists of phony emails stating they must pay for outstanding tolls. The NCTA said the emails are from “E-Z Pass Customer Service Center” with “Payment for driving on Toll Road” in the subject line. The N.C. Department of Transportation said a link directing customers to an invoice or payment portal is included in the email. NCDOT said that N.C.     Bolton Pool to reopen Saturday

    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The repairs to the pump at Bolton Pool are completed and the pool is scheduled to open at 11:30 am Saturday, according to Winston-Salem Recreation and Parks. Bolton Pool was closed Thursday as workers tried to figure out what caused the pump to fail. The normal operating hours of Bolton Pool are 11:30 am to 8:00 pm.
