    Greensboro motorists urged to avoid Huffine Mill Road next week

    GREENSBORO, N.C. – Huffine Mill Road will be closed from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. for water line rehabilitation work starting Monday, July 21. The Greensboro Water Resources Department strongly encourages motorists to use the detour or an alternate route to avoid the area. The rehabilitation work is expected to be completed by Thursday, but could be delayed by inclement weather. Residents affected by the work will receive a temporary water service.

    NC agencies warn toll drivers of email scam

    RALEIGH, N.C. — The N.C. Turnpike Authority is warning motorists of phony emails stating they must pay for outstanding tolls. The NCTA said the emails are from “E-Z Pass Customer Service Center” with “Payment for driving on Toll Road” in the subject line. The N.C.     Bolton Pool to reopen Saturday

    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The repairs to the pump at Bolton Pool are completed and the pool is scheduled to open at 11:30 am Saturday, according to Winston-Salem Recreation and Parks. Bolton Pool was closed Thursday as workers tried to figure out what caused the pump to fail. The normal operating hours of Bolton Pool are 11:30 am to 8:00 pm.

    Tour bus hits houses in Wilkesboro

    WILKESBORO, N.C. – A car accident caused a tour bus to crash into two houses on Statesville Road around 8:00 Friday night. According to authorities, a car travelling southbound on Statesville Road swerved to miss another vehicle and hit the tour bus head-on.   • Fourth Street closing to accommodate crane

    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Fourth Street will be closed between Patterson Avenue and Linden Street while a crane removes a walkway over the railroad tracks starting Monday. Traffic heading eastbound on Fourth Street will have access to Vine Street and all other traffic will be detoured.     Greensboro student accidentally stabbed during school play

    GREENSBORO, N.C. – Police said a Caldwell Academy student in Greensboro was accidentally stabbed during a school play.     Administrators for the Stokes and Surry County Incident Alerts Facebook page are meeting with the public on Saturday to promote their service and to get suggestions on how to improve it. The new Facebook page will provide immediate reports on major alerts such as vehicle accidents, house fires, weather warnings, and missing persons.     Gunshot victim found at Greensboro gas station, police say

    GREENSBORO, N.C. – Police said one person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being found with an apparent gunshot wound early Sunday at a Greensboro gas station. Police said they found the injured victim after responding to the Shell Gas Station at 2512 High Point Road at around 2:40 a.m. The identity of the victim has not been released.
