    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A child who was feared missing and in danger in Winston-Salem has been found safe as of Wednesday morning. Police began investigating the case when a concerned citizen witnessed a small child getting into a car with three unknown men. His bike was left on the side of Bethabara Road.     DURHAM, N.C. — A jury in Durham has found Laurence Lovette Jr. not guilty of first-degree murder in the 2008 death of Duke University graduate student Abhijit Mahato.     GREENSBORO, N.C. — A home was destroyed by a fire early Wednesday morning in Greensboro. Crews responded to the scene at 3548 Riverside Drive around 1:51 a.m. to find the house fully engulfed in flames.     WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Some residents of a Winston-Salem apartment complex woke up to smoke billowing in their room. Others woke up to the sound of bottles breaking their windows — an attempt to alert them to the fire.     RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh mother was arrested after police say she bit her 16-week-old baby and broke the child’s ribs and shoulder blades. Mary Martin Peele, 34, of Okelly Street, was arrested Monday and charged with felony child abuse inflicting serious injury and misdemeanor child abuse.     Greensboro man shot in stomach identified

    GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man is in the hospital after being shot in the stomach early Tuesday morning in Greensboro. Police were called to West Barton Street around 4:30 a.m. to find the victim shot, but conscious and alert. Rufus  Nathaniel Pegues Jr., 45, of Barton Street, is still hospitalized with injuries that are considered to be non-life threatening. Police are still searching for a suspect.

    WHITSETT, N.C. — A man on a moped died when he was struck by a vehicle early Friday morning in the Whitsett area. The accident happened just before 6 a.m. along Rock Creek Dairy Road. N.C.     ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies are searching for a missing Rockingham County woman, her 6-month-old child and the child’s father.
