    NC woman shot to death on 84th birthday

    PENDER COUNTY, N.C. — An 84-year-old woman was shot to death in her home, on her birthday Monday. According to WECT, preliminary autopsy results show that Annie Mills Anderson died from gunshot wounds on her birthday inside her home in Kelly. The woman was found by a family member who found the front door damaged upon arrival. It is believed the woman lived alone. The investigation is ongoing. Source: WECT

    Woman accused of stabbing man multiple times in Greensboro

    GREENSBORO, N.C. — A woman has been charged after a man was found with multiple stab wounds inside a home in Greensboro overnight. Police responded to the stabbing at Hardie Street around 12:45 a.m. Sterling Little was found with multiple stab wounds and transported to the hospital where police say he is in critical condition.     WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man who was found shot to death in his Winston-Salem home Tuesday afternoon has been identified. Luther Gordon, 68, was found dead inside his home at 1413 Bretton St., by a visitor who regularly checked on him. Police were called to the home around 4:19 p.m. after a report of “unknown trouble.” The victim was found with possibly multiple gunshot wounds, police said.     UPDATE: All lanes of I-40 reopen after wrong-way crash in Greensboro

    GREENSBORO, N.C. — All lanes of Interstate 40 in Greensboro are reopened after a wrong-way crash Tuesday morning. Police say 911 callers reported a vehicle traveling the wrong way on I-40 near the Elm-Eugene exit. The wreck happened around 10:30 a.m. The operator of the vehicle being driven the wrong way was identified as 92-year-old Emery Gideon Tucker Sr., of High Point.     Two charged after police pursuit ends with wreck in Asheboro

    ASHEBORO, N.C. — Two men were arrested after Randolph County Sheriff’s deputies say the men broke into a business Sunday evening and were seen fleeing the area. Deputies responding to a break-in at James River Equipment at 2421 U.S. 64 East observed the suspect vehicle leaving the scene and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.     Two charged after marijuana grow operations found in Forsyth Co.

    FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — Two men were arrested after Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputies say two marijuana grow operations were located in the northeast section of Forsyth County earlier this month. Investigators say the marijuana grow operations were located at 7512 and 7536 Dennis Road, Walnut Cove. The search of 7512 Dennis Road revealed both an indoor and outdoor grow operation.     Firefighters battle early morning fire in High Point

    HIGH POINT, N.C. — Heavy smoke filled the air of a High Point neighborhood early Tuesday morning after a house on Alleghany Street went up in flames.     Woman in serious condition after being shot in High Point

    HIGH POINT, N.C. — A woman is in serious condition after being shot over the weekend in High Point. Police responded to the shooting around 2:15 p.m. Saturday, in the 1300 block of Franklin Avenue. Police say the woman was shot while in the car with her boyfriend. She was transported to Baptist Medical Center where she is listed in serious condition. The woman’s identity has not been released. There is no further information at this time.

    ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — A standoff between a man and police ended peacefully early Thursday morning in Stoneville when the man surrendered. Officers were alerted to a man who was firing shots into the air outside a house in the 200 block of Thomas Street around 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
