Paul Choate joined the FOX8 family as a web producer in October 2013.

He moved to FOX8 from High Country Press, a newspaper in Boone where he worked first as a general assignment reporter and later as the managing editor.

Originally from the small mountain town of Sparta, Paul has called North Carolina “home” his entire life and loves living in the Piedmont Triad.

Paul is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

When he is not finding and creating content for MyFOX8.com and our social media platforms, Paul is probably cheering on his beloved Los Angeles Lakers, Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Braves.

    Summerfield man charged with assault, possession of firearm by felon

    SUMMERFIELD, N.C. — A man is in custody accused of assault and possession of a firearm by a felon. Jamie Lee Feagans, 39, of Summerfield, is charged with assault by pointing a firearm and felonious possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Feagans was arrested on Thursday following an altercation late Wednesday evening. Feagans was placed in the Rockingham County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 7, 2015.

    Winston-Salem police respond to report of human remains, find bear remains

    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police responded to a report of human remains discovered on Tuesday morning. Officers responded to 280 Business Park Drive at 10:45 a.m. after personnel with waste management called about what they believed were a human foot and hand located within recovered recyclable items. Waste management personnel showed what they had discovered to officers. Medical Examiner’s Office personnel also responded to the scene. After further examination it was determined that the items found were remains of a bear.
