Paul Choate joined the FOX8 family as a web producer in October 2013.

He came to FOX8 from High Country Press, a newspaper in Boone where he worked first as a general assignment reporter and later as the managing editor.

Originally from the small mountain town of Sparta, Paul has called North Carolina “home” his entire life and loves living in the Piedmont Triad.

Paul is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

When he is not finding and creating content for MyFOX8.com and our social media platforms, Paul is probably cheering on his beloved Los Angeles Lakers, Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Braves.

    Man accused of rape, kidnapping in Asheboro captured

    ASHEBORO, N.C. — A man wanted by Asheboro police for alleged rape and kidnapping has been captured. Darren Wayne Gentle, 47, of Asheboro, is charged with first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree kidnapping, crime against nature and battery on an unborn child. Gentle was arrested by a Randolph County deputy while walking on Fork Creek Mill Road near Seagrove. He is currently confined in the Randolph County Jail under a $350,000 secured bond.

    YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. — Four people are in custody in connection with allegedly selling heroin and crack cocaine. Darren Devon Ruth, 27, of Clemmons; Quantez Monte Johnson, 23, of Winston-Salem; Allen Douglas Redford, 25, of Winston-Salem; and Lashonda Devette McCandies, 27, of Winston-Salem, are all in custody on multiple drug-related charges.     2 taken to hospital after Greensboro shooting

    GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police responded to a report of a shooting in Greensboro on Tuesday night. The incident was reported in the 1100 block of Huffine Mill Road at about 10:30 p.m. Police said two people were transported to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is not currently known. Police on scene said they are unsure if the shooting happened in a residence on Huffine Mill Road or in the street.

    ALLENTOWN, Penn. — Professional wrestling star Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka has been charged with his girlfriend’s 1983 murder, according to the Morning Call.     Suspect sought for ATM fraud in Greensboro

    GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police are searching for a man in connection with ATM fraud. On Aug. 20, a man allegedly used a stolen debit card to make a fraudulent withdrawal from a First Citizens ATM located at 4635 W. Market St. in Greensboro, police said. The suspect was captured on surveillance camera at the time of the incident. Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (336) 373-1000.

    STAMFORD, Conn. — A Connecticut woman was arrested after she allegedly keyed two people’s cars, but misspelled an insult. According to WFSB, 20-year-old Shannon Csapilla believed her boyfriend was involved with one of her girlfriends.
