Paul Choate joined the FOX8 family as a web producer in October 2013.

He came to FOX8 from High Country Press, a newspaper in Boone where he worked first as a general assignment reporter and later as the managing editor.

Originally from the small mountain town of Sparta, Paul has called North Carolina “home” his entire life and loves living in the Piedmont Triad.

Paul is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

When he is not finding and creating content for and our social media platforms, Paul is probably cheering on his beloved Los Angeles Lakers, Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Braves.

    Lanes reopen after accident on eastbound I-40 at Sandy Ridge Road in Greensboro

    NC man drowns in ocean at Myrtle Beach campground

    HORRY COUNTY, S.C. — A North Carolina man was pronounced dead after being pulled from the ocean Wednesday, Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard told WPDE. Brian Long, 49, of Shelby, was pulled from the ocean at Ocean Lakes Campground in Myrtle Beach and taken to Waccamaw Hospital. Long was pronounced dead at about 1 p.m. Wednesday, WPDE reports. His cause of death was drowning.

    THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Saturday morning, Thomasville police said Wednesday after completing an investigation.     BURLINGTON, N.C. — Burlington firefighters rescued a man who became trapped in a portable toilet tank on Monday evening.     NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — A woman’s arm was ripped off by her boyfriend’s dog on Sunday night, according to WCIV.     Gov. McCrory signs historical monuments bill into law
