    Pilot, passenger killed in plane crash at Virginia International Raceway

    HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. — A pilot and passenger were killed in a small private plane that crashed at Virginia International Raceway in Halifax County, WDBJ reports. The crash happened Friday evening in the middle of the south course. No spectators were hurt. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the track at Virginia International Raceway has been shut down. It has not been evacuated.

    Emergency crews respond to near drowning of 2-year-old in High Point

    HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point firefighters and Guilford County EMS responded to a near drowning of a 2-year-old child.     ASHEBORO, N.C. — Police seized approximately 544 grams of methamphetamine while searching an Asheboro residence. Officers executed a search warrant at 208 W. Presnell St. on Wednesday.
