Paul Choate joined the FOX8 family as a web producer in October 2013.

He came to FOX8 from High Country Press, a newspaper in Boone where he worked first as a general assignment reporter and later as the managing editor.

Originally from the small mountain town of Sparta, Paul has called North Carolina “home” his entire life and loves living in the Piedmont Triad.

Paul is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

When he is not finding and creating content for MyFOX8.com and our social media platforms, Paul is probably cheering on his beloved Los Angeles Lakers, Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Braves.

    CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. — A woman was arrested after admitting to injecting her 14-year-old daughter with heroin. Jessica Lynn Riffey, 34, of Honey Brook, Pa., is charged with endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, drug delivery and other related charges.     Police respond to shooting on Douglas Street in Greensboro

    GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police responded to a shooting in a Greensboro neighborhood Monday afternoon. The shooting was reported at about 3:45 p.m. in the 600 block of Douglas Street. Police on scene said a man was shot in the leg and is in stable condition. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, police said. The victim told police he was shot in the roadway on Douglas Street. An investigation is underway.

    ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A registered sex offender arrested last week faces more charges following an investigation, according to the sheriff’s office. Antoine Devell Smith, 39, of Elon, is charged with multiple counts of being on school grounds as a sex offender.     Greensboro transit bus, SUV involved in accident; multiple injuries

    GREENSBORO, N.C. — An SUV and a Greensboro Transit Authority bus were involved in an accident on Friday evening. The accident happened at about 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of Fairview Street and 16th Street. About half a dozen people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, authorities said. It is unclear what caused the accident.

    Crews responding to house fire in Greensboro, body found

    GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro fire, police and EMS are on the scene of a reported house fire at 112 S. Holden Road. A dead body has been found, according to officials.
