    81-year-old man hit by train in Greensboro

    GREENSBORO, N.C. — A pedestrian was hit by an Amtrak passenger train in downtown Greensboro Thursday morning. Police responded to the scene at about 8:40 a.m. at South Elm Street and Smothers Place. Officers say 81-year-old Lane Green was walking at the crossing when he was hit by the passenger train.     Blind man assaulted, robbed at Winston-Salem home

    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A blind man was assaulted and robbed at his Winston-Salem home Wednesday afternoon. Police responded to the Sugar Creek Apartments in Winston-Salem at about 4:34 p.m. The 44-year-old victim, who is blind, said he was assaulted by an unknown man. The man also stole several items from the victim.     Pedestrian dies after being struck by car in Greensboro

    GREENSBORO, N.C. — A 52-year-old man died from his injuries after he was struck by a vehicle in Greensboro Wednesday night. The crash happened around 7:45 p.m. on South Eugene Street near Whittington Street. Nathaniel Whiteside of Greensboro was walking in the area when he was struck by a 2012 Ford Fusion being driven by 73-year-old Emily Dickenson of Greensboro.
