    Man shot, killed in Reidsville home identified

    REIDSVILLE, N.C. — A man shot multiple times inside a Reidsville home Wednesday morning has died, according to police. Police responded to a residence on Circle Drive around 8:20 a.m. where they found man in his 20s suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was later identified as Patrick Simmons, 24, of Reidsville. Two other young adults were inside sleeping at the time of the shooting, police say. Simmons was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.     Man charged for making false bomb threat in Winston-Salem

    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man has been charged after police say he made a false bomb threat Tuesday evening which led to the evacuation of the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission. Police responded to the bomb threat report around 6:42 p.m. at the mission on North Trade Street. Rescue Mission employees partially evacuated the facility and the surrounding streets were blocked while the incident was investigated.     REIDSVILLE, N.C. — The Rockingham Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a house exploded in Reidsville Monday evening. The house was located at 1699 Highway 158 East, Reidsville. Crews were dispatched at 8:39 p.m. No injuries were reported. The Yanceyville Road Fire Department arrived on scene to find windows in the highway and debris approximately 100 feet in all directions from the house. The house was completely leveled.     Third suspect arrested in Spencer double homicide

    SPENCER, N.C. — A third person has been arrested in connection with a double homicide in Spencer on Oct. 8. Officers responded to the 600 block of Fifth Street around 10 p.m. and found two men dead inside.     15-year-old charged with murdering 75-year-old grandfather in Kernersville

    FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — A 15-year-old boy is accused of killing a 75-year-old man in Kernersville. Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 1526 Greenview Drive just before 10 a.m. Sunday. They found the body of 75-year-old Clarence Nelson Parrish near the edge of the woods, not far from his driveway.     GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro police say they are trying to piece together an unusual case after responding to a 3-vehicle wreck Thursday and finding a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The Watch Commander commented that in 26 years on the job, he has never seen anything like it. Police originally responded to a reported hit-and-run accident at Huffman Street and East Wendover.     Pedestrian fatally struck in hit-and-run in Greensboro parking lot

    GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Greensboro man was killed when he was struck by a vehicle in a parking lot of a shopping center Wednesday morning. Police responded to the hit-and-run around 11:21 a.m. in the parking lot of 4118 Spring Garden Street. The address belongs to West Market Shopping Center, which appears to house a Cato and a Badcock & More store. Donice Lee Allred, 59, died at the scene from his injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

    DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — One man is in custody and another is still on the run after two men fled a traffic stop on I-85 in Davidson County Tuesday.     CLEMMONS, N.C. — The skeletal remains found in the backyard of a home in Clemmons have been identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office.     Sex offender held on $1 million bond after being arrested in Guilford Co.

    GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A registered sex offender is facing additional charges after being arrested Oct. 7 in Guilford County. Jason Michael Handy, 41, is charged with three counts of felony indecent liberties with a child and two counts of felony sex offender violations. Deputies say these charges resulted from an investigation into the activities of a juvenile victim.
