Multiple crews battle large mulch fire in Asheboro

ASHEBORO, N.C. — No injuries were reported in a large mulch fire in Asheboro on Sunday.

Six fire crews and emergency responders were called to McDowell Lumber and Pallet Company at 2473 Falling Oak Road shortly after 11:30 a.m. Sunday, according to Randolph County communications.

The fire was at least 300 feet from the building and was under control by about 2 p.m., according to Captain Jason Tilley with Westside Fire and Rescue.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
