Man dies after being shot in Winston-Salem home break-in

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A man died after being shot in his Winston-Salem home after a break-in early Saturday morning, according to a police press release.

Travaris Montel Gourdine, 22, died after officers found him suffering from a gunshot wound at 4375 Tise Avenue.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 12:15 a.m. on a report that armed suspects had broken into the home.

The victim was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he died from his injuries, according to police.

Police said Gourdine’s death is the 25th homicide in Winston-Salem this year. Police have not released any information about the suspects.
