WAKE FOREST, N.C. — Video shows a United States Postal Service worker and a Good Samaritan quickly pulling packages out of a burning mail truck in a North Carolina neighborhood Tuesday morning.

Officials say the fire started in the engine compartment and spread to the rest of the vehicle, according to WSOC. Firefighters quickly arrived on scene and were able to put the flames out within minutes.

“If it wasn’t for her quick thinking to pull right over and remove the parcels, it could’ve been tough,” said Wake Forest Fire Chief Ed Barrett. “Somebody did save Christmas — you give all the credit to that postal carrier.”

Most of the packages on the truck were Amazon deliveries.

Amazon later issued a statement on the incident:

We appreciate the efforts of all those involved and are grateful that everyone is safe. We will be donating to the local fire department and thank everyone for their quick efforts on this.
