GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Thousands poured into the streets of Sunset Hills Saturday for the fourth annual Running of the Balls 5k.

Some people walked, some ran but all of the approximately 3,500 participants moved with the same goal in mind: helping families in need put food on their tables.

Runners moved through the course under a canopy of glowing Christmas balls, strung along 50-foot tall trees.

Proceeds from the event go to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina. Organizers are hoping to raise about $50,000.
