Reidsville man accused of kicking hot grease on ex-girlfriend turns self in

REIDSVILLE, N.C. — A Reidsville man who is accused of kicking a pan of hot grease onto his ex-girlfriend turned himself in Wednesday, Reidsville police said in a news release Friday.

Joseph Lamon Childs, 30, faces charges of first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

At about 4 a.m. on Nov. 29, Reidsville officers responded to the 1500 block of Vance Street on a reported aggravated assault.

Upon arrival, officers found a woman suffering from third-degree burns to one side of her body.

The victim told officers her ex-boyfriend, Childs, kicked a pan full of hot grease on her.

Childs was placed under a domestic hold and also issued a $300,000 secured bond, the release said. He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 21.
