JAMESTOWN, N.C. – Members of the Student Veterans Association at Guilford Technical Community College are sending packages to Troops for the holidays.

This year, SVA President Cassi Lambert has a personal connection to the packages that are headed off to Kuwait. She has a friend stationed there and the care packages are going to his platoon.

"I think it being Christmas, I mean everyone likes getting presents in general," Lambert said. "It really helps just boost their spirits, especially since their away from their families."

About a half dozen students will pack about 20 boxes with food, clothes and much more.

Many of the items were donated by students and staff at GTCC. Some items were purchased through the club's money.

"I was raised that the military and the veterans, they deserve the best," Lambert said. "I can't even begin to imagine what it's like over there, not being home for the holidays, it's something many of us take for granted."
