Two men shot after arranged online meet up in High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Police say two men are in the hospital with gunshot wounds after an arranged online meeting went wrong at the Deep River Point apartment complex in High Point.

High Point police said in a news release that three men met at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after arranging a transaction on the Offer Up app.

According to the release, while two men were meeting another man to sell a wedding ring set, the buyer attempted to rob the victim's friend, who had possession of the ring.

While the robbery attempt was happening, the victim grabbed a pistol from his vehicle. Both the suspect and victim shot at each other and both were hit by gunfire, the release said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital by private vehicle.

The suspect was later located on Whites Mill Road and was taken to a local hospital by Guilford County EMS.

Charges are pending.

There is no word on the condition of the suspect or the victim.
