HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church has a rich history that dates back to 1856.

In 1934, the church split and a new building was built.

"This is a replica of that era, and it's pretty close to the same church that was built," said church historian Zane Hedgecock.

In the 1920s, they built a new brick building and tore the original structure down. A few years ago, Boy Scout Harrison Idle approached Hedgecock with the idea of building a replica of the original church.

After several years of planning, the project finally came together.

"The whole community came together to help me and, I could not have done it without him, [Hedgecock]" Idle said. "People helped in this project that are not members here, that either donated their time or donated their money."
