Homicide investigation underway after 19-year-old man dies in Winston-Salem shooting

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A homicide investigation is underway after a 19-year-old Winston-Salem man died from injuries sustained in a shooting Monday evening, according to a press release.

At about 8:10 p.m., police responded to 904 Wendell St. in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, officers discovered Rakem Joseph Green suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to Baptist Hospital where he died from his injuries.

This was the City of Winston-Salem’s 23rd homicide in 2016 and the investigation is ongoing.
