WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Winston-Salem police have released surveillance video related to an incident where a man was allegedly assaulted and robbed while playing "Pokemon Go."

On Nov. 15 at 4:10 a.m., officers located a badly beaten and incoherent 39-year-old man in the 700 block of Liberty View Court.

The victim was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he has remained hospitalized since the incident.

Authorities have determined that the victim was in the downtown area playing "Pokemon Go" on the night of the assault.

Winston-Salem police said in a news release Monday personal property was taken from the victim in addition to the assault.

Surveillance video taken in the 700 block of Liberty Street at 12:40 a.m. on Nov. 15 shows the victim walking with his phone. Directly behind the victim, a man can be seen walking in the same direction.

The man appears to visually scan the area for onlookers before following the victim out of camera view, police said.

Anyone with information on the identity of the man walking behind the victim is asked to call Winston-Salem police at (336) 773-7700.
