Reidsville man arrested for arson at parents’ home

REIDSVILLE, N.C. — A Reidsville man has been arrested for starting a fire at his parent’s home, according to a news release from the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday at about 9:55 p.m., Rockingham County sheriff’s deputies responded to 8574 U.S. 158 West in Reidsville to assist firefighters on scene with a man who was attempting to hinder their efforts to put out a residential fire at that location.

The man who was causing problems for first responders was identified as Gregory David Keesee, 41. He lives at that location with his parents who were not home at the time of the fire and was intoxicated and belligerent.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Keesee for misdemeanor resist, obstruct and delay a law enforcement officer.

Upon an investigation into the fire at that location, the Rockingham County Fire Marshal’s Office has charged Keesee with felonious second-degree arson for starting the fire.

Keesee was placed in the Rockingham County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 14.
