Juvenile accused of shooting, killing man in Alamance County

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. -- A juvenile is accused of shooting and killing a man on Friday in Alamance County.

At about 11:30 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to the 3200 block of Burch Bridge Road in reference to a gunshot victim, according to a news release from the Alamance County Sheriff's Office.

Upon arrival, deputies located Jonathan David Griffin, 55, of Burlington, deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

Deputies determined that Griffin was shot during a domestic altercation with his girlfriend by a juvenile relative of the girlfriend, the release said.

A secure custody order for the juvenile was obtained by investigators.

The juvenile was placed at the Guilford County Juvenile Detention Center on Saturday pending a detention hearing, the release said.

The Alamance County District Attorney’s Office was notified and has the case under review. The Alamance County Department of Social Services has been notified and will also be reviewing the case.
