NEW YORK — Nearly two years after he was shot and injured in the line of duty, New York Police Officer Andrew Dossi was able to get down on one knee and pop the question during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Thursday morning.

The NYPD tweeted a photo of the beautiful moment Thursday afternoon, congratulating the officer and his bride-to-be on their engagement.

The Tweet read, “She said yes!!! Officer Dossi proposed to his girlfriend alongside the NYPD Band at today’s @ Thanksgiving Day Parade. Congrats!”

“The family’s very happy for the both of them. Andrew has had an amazing recovery in the past two years, and this is a really happy time for him and her, and we wish everybody the best,” said Dossi’s sister Tennille said, according to the New York Daily News. “He worked extremely hard to get where he is today.”

On Jan. 5, 2015, Dossi was shot in the elbow and back by an armed robber. He remained in the hospital for 11 days.
