GERMANTON, N.C. -- Kudzu is an invasive vine that is almost impossible to get rid of, but one Germanton woman is using it in a unique way.
Pam Buchannon discovered several decades ago that the vine was perfect for making baskets.
"My husband and I went to Asheville on one of those bed and breakfast, sign up for a class type of things," she said.
The class was on how to make a basket.
Since then she perfected her skills and has made hundreds of baskets with miles of vines. She incorporates other vines and plant materials in her baskets as well.
"It's basically taking the weeds of the world and making something that's really unique," she said.
