Three years after Former President George H.W. Bush shaved his head to show support for a young cancer patient, he says the boy “is feeling and doing much better.”

The former commander-in-chief posted the update and a picture on Twitter Monday afternoon.

The post reads, “Incredibly that my friend Patrick, the courageous young man (with hair!) to my left, is feeling and doing much better these days.”

Bush initially shared a picture with the young boy, identified as Patrick, in July 2013, TODAY reports. When his granddaughter asked about the gesture in 2013, Bush told her that shaving his head was the “right thing to do.”
