ASHEBORO, N.C. -- The elephants are always a talking point for visitors at the North Carolina Zoo.

The zoo currently has six elephants, two males and four females.

Zookeepers say it's important to let the elephants mingle amongst themselves, but just like humans, not all of the get along.

"There has been recent research done that shows that having variable social opportunities and the more elephants they can socialize with, the better," said zookeeper Erin Ivory. "Sometimes it takes a little longer to warm up to certain ones and get them working together."
