Winston-Salem man shot in the stomach dies

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The man who was shot in the stomach in Winston-Salem Thursday evening has died, according to a news release.

At 5:11 p.m., officers responded to a location on Barbara Jane Avenue near Apollo Drive. Upon arrival, officers located 36-year-old Acara Goldsmith suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach.

He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

This was the City of Winston-Salem’s 22nd homicide in 2016 and the investigation is ongoing.
