CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Benjamin McMiller, a music teacher at Oakdale Elementary School, has been arrested on charges of viewing and possessing child pornography, police told WSOC Thursday morning.

Detectives with the Special Victims Division received a tip in October that someone was viewing child porn in Charlotte. The division launched an investigation with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and determined that the account belonged to 32-year-old McMiller.

Authorities said they went to his home and seized evidence.

McMiller voluntarily went to police headquarters on Wednesday. Detectives interviewed him and said he confessed to streaming videos.

“Mr. McMiller was very forthcoming and gave us information that led to those charges,” said CMPD Lt. Tom Barry during a news conference on Thursday.
