GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Biology class at the STEM Early College at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is a sanctuary of sorts for Sydney Parker.

"The work is very hard sometimes, but I feel like it's worth it for getting good grades," she said. "I always believe if you try your best and go above and beyond, that it's possible."

Away from school, Parker gives time to help people who are homeless. She has a passion for school and service.

"I find that time management is best when I limit myself to how much work I have to do. I try to stay on track with my work," she said.
